Recently, I have been giving a lot of thought to the "meaning of Christmas."
I don't think the meaning of Christmas has anything to do with the following:
~Rushing around town.
~Spending more than you can afford to spend to buy gifts for people who don't need anything, and won't necessarily like what you give them. (The best presents I've ever gotten have been little, useful things. I really appreciate it when someone asks me what I would like for Christmas, and then listens to my answer.)
~Baking 12 dozen cookies for a cookie exchange in the middle of the week.
~Fighting over the "perfect" tree.
~Unabashed consumption.
I am in agreement with Dr. Suess that "maybe, just maybe, Christmas doesn't come from a store."
